Concrete & Ink
Concrete & Ink
Book
“Concrete & Ink: Storytelling and the Future of Architecture” is the first book in the series Staging Cities. Across four volumes, Staging Cities combine constellations of knowledge from storytelling, choreography, sound and lighting design focusing on the city. “Concrete & Ink” contains fiction and non-fiction, a graphic story and interviews. These narrate buildings, housing estates and cities, navigate between utopias and dystopias, and use imagination, dreaming, magic, games and concrete realities from the past into the future.
The multifarious and playful approach taken by the editors and contributors of Staging Cities provided a starting point for a similarly approachable and contemporary design. The cover elements echo a joyful jumble of building blocks, and the idea continues throughout the book. While the text is typeset in a plain manner, the title pages are dynamic and offer a moment of surprise to the readers as they turn the pages.
