I Love You Too is a book conceived by South African artist Kemang Wa Lehulere, who invited people from across Manchester to write love letters—addressed to partners, family, friends, or themselves. Rooted in his ongoing interest in language, memory, and collective storytelling, the project emerged during his residency at Manchester Central Library, where he explored the archive as a living space of emotion and shared history.

The studio created an object that echoes the quiet intimacy of the letters it holds. We were drawn to the use of marbled paper for its associations with library bindings and the archival tradition—evoking a sense of care, permanence, and quiet ceremony. While searching for a paper marbler, we discovered—unexpectedly—that a neighbour working just next door practised the craft. We met in person and chose a unique pattern together, making the process itself a gesture of connection. The result is a book that not only holds the voices of a community, but was shaped by one—created with care, and grounded in togetherness.
