Photo Trouvée
Photo Trouvée
Book
Photo Trouvée is a collection of 285 amateur photographs found, collected and edited by the French photo historian Michel Frizot and the photographic researcher Cédric de Veigy. Defined by the authors as ‘an anthropology of the ordinary’, the ‘found photographs’ of Photo Trouvée — intensely personal records of family reunions, images of childhood, holidays and so forth — mirror universal emotions and attitudes.
The layout of the book is simple, almost naive. Its format is small and intimate, and images are reproduced at actual size whenever possible. These found photographs are the main actors in this book, revealing their melancholy, joy and emotion. The playful typography ties to vernacular type and nostalgia.
